Literature Inspired LGBTQ Couples Session | Maine Same Sex Photographer

Engagement, Portrait

the blog:

Update! This amazing session was featured on the amazing wedding magazine, Equally Wed in March of 2019. Find the feature here!

I met Josh in middle school when we were both awkward members of art club. Our friendship has continued and grown for 18 years. I had been wanting to do a small styled couples session for some time and couldn’t think of a couple more in love and adorable than Josh and his boyfriend, Brandon. They graciously met me up along the Swift River on Kangamangus Highway in North Conway, New Hampshire for a brief session inspired by an English garden and literature. Bad Rabbit Flowers designed adorable watering cans and pitchers full of vibrant flowers. Mainely Macarons provided some extremely delicious treats for them to try and the rest is history.

Let me tell you a bit about Josh and Brandon (and why they are so darn cute). They began dating in the beginning of 2012 and had their first date at a bowling alley. They both quickly realized that neither of them are very good at bowling and as Josh stated had a “rom-com worthy conversation” in the midst of gutter ball after gutter ball. They had attracted the attention of a family bowling the lane over who tsk-tsk’d all of these gutter balls and gave both Josh and Brandon a full-on tutorial on how to properly bowl. Rest assured, this tutorial didn’t really excel their ability.

These two cuties, for years, would drive across the state of New Hampshire to see each other until they finally took the plunge and moved in with each other for the past five years. Josh shared, “We still go bowling, but now with our friends and families, who have welcomed and supported us throughout our relationship. And we’re both wicked grateful to this circle of friends and family for sharing their love and helping ours to grow.” Thank you so much to both Josh and Brandon for sharing your love with me!
